Hyderabad, September 7, 2012: Heritage Marathon: Hyderabad to run into its past
Heritage walks, move over. Because it is time to run. On September 23, it will be a date with Hyderabad’s heritage for over 800 runners. The over 400-year-old history of the city will be covered as part of a 42.195 km long marathon.

Marathon Woman
Uma Chigurupati, the woman of many marathons and chairperson of Hyderabad Heritage Marathon, feels running helps you see a city in a new light.
On September 23, when runners gather at Chowmohalla Palace at the crack of dawn, Uma Chigurupati and her team will be glad their hard work has paid off. This is the second year of Hyderabad Heritage Marathon, after the Hyderabad 10K Foundation decided to hold separate events for marathons and 10K runs. "People’s Plaza at Necklace Road was getting too congested to accommodate participants of the marathon and shorter runs of five and 10 kilometres," she says.

Andhra Pradesh Tourism and Hyderabad 10K run foundation have come together to organize the "Hyderabad Heritage Marathon" which takes the runners through the heritage sites of the city. The second edition of Hyderabad Heritage Marathon will take place on 23rd September, 2012 as a part of World Tourism Week. The run consists of a Marathon (42.195 Kilometers) and a Half Marathon (21.152 Kilometers). The event will take place on 23rd September, 2012. The run starts at Chowmahalla Palace and ends at Qutub Shahi Tombs. |
